I would just like to thank you for delivering the "Silvery Anniversary" rose to my friends in Ludlow on Monday, the actual day of their anniversary. They were absolutely thrilled to bits. I have another anniversary coming up in March so will use you again!!

Artichoke Plants

Although there are three very separate and distinct types of artichokes that can be grown and eaten at home, here at Victoriana we offer globe artichoke plants for sale.

These artichokes are members of the thistle family, and each plant produces a head that has edible leaves and a 'heart' (stalk). Our artichokes are supplied as compost block-grown plants, and we offer discounts on bulk orders. More...

Confusingly, the term 'Artichoke' actually encompasses three distinct plant types under one name – Jerusalem Artichokes (the infamous tubers!), Chinese Artichokes, and Globe Artichokes (tall, statuesque with edible flowerhead leaves and stalks). Our Artichokes listing is home to a selection of Globe Artichoke plants, and we have taken the time to select the varieties that offer the best edible bits!

Artichoke plants are not just favoured for their edible leaves and hearts (stalks) – they also make fantastic ornamental additions to any vegetable patch or garden border, thanks to their height and striking stature. In addition to their good looks, they are a great addition for the wildlife gardener. Globe Artichoke plants are members of the thistle family, and if you can spare a few of your gorgeous green globes to run to flower much like a flowering thistle they will not only offer a stunning display, but also prove extremely attractive to pollinating insects.

Our Globe Artichokes are supplied as compost block-grown plants, and can be planted out from late April onwards. These tall plants require at least 3 feet between plants in a sunny position with well-draining soil. Our Globe Artichoke plants should last for around three to five years, after which time we recommend replanting.
