Our Feedback
I just wanted to say a huge thank you for sending out a replacement batch of Cherry Plum Hedging last week, following the unfortunate non-arrival of my first order. Your wonderful service is very much appreciated. Many thanks once again.

Description

Something we have discovered from Italy which is effectively a cut-and-come-again lettuce. The elongated leaves are deeply lobed and tender, with very crunchy ribs. Very fast regrowing.

Very much worth growing and will crop all summer, through the autumn and into the early winter. After cutting you will obtain further shoots in the same way that Spinach regrows after cutting. It also has the added benefit of standing well without readily bolting in a hot summer.

  • Sow late March onwards under protection either in seed trays or drills ½" (1 cm) deep in rows 8" apart.
  • When large enough to handle transplant outside, stting plants 8" - 10" (20 - 25 cm) apart in rows 18" (45 cm) apart.
  • Alternatively, direct sow mid-April onwards into ½" deep drills 18" (45 cm) apart. and thin to one plant per 8 - 10" (20 - 25 cm) apart when large enough to handle (and, of course, eat the thinnings).

Top Tips

  • Cut regularly to encourage a constant supply of juvenile foliage, which is far sweeter than the larger leaves. As a guide the crop should be no taller than 12" (30 cm) tall.
