Our Feedback

Thank you for my most recent order, delivered on Wednesday. The quality is better than ever, if that's possible. May I also thank the young lady who took my order last Friday. As I often have difficulty in hearing on the phone I appreciated her clarity, calmness and product knowledge. Obviously happpy in her work. Many thanks.

Originating from Brazil, this really is a pretty chilli with fruits that resemble bells, hence its common name of Christmas Bell; in Brazil it is known as 'Ubatuba Cambuc' after the two cities where it is found. Around the rest of the world it has picked up one or two other names Whilst not an exhaustive list, it is also known as...
'Aji Flor'
'Balloon'
'Bishops Crown'
'Bishops Hat'
'Campane'
'Orchid'
'Peri Peri'
'Pimenta Cambuc'
'Ubatuba Cambuc'

Starting off green, the peculiar flying saucer shaped fruits mature to a gorgeous orange or red. Whilst the body of the fruit has some significant heat, the wings are sweet and mild making a complete fruit a not over-powering experience. Grilled or roasted whole they make an attractive and flavoursome accompaniment to any meal; hung and dried they make a novel Christmas decoration.

The squat fruits are 2" - 3" (5 - 7.5 cm) in diameter and 1" - 2" (2.5 - 5 cm) tall. The plant itself grows to around 4 feet (120 cm) tall and has a lank and open appearance, with a spread of approximately 3 feet (90 cm).

  • Origin: Brazil.
  • Heat: Medium.
