Grapes For Outdoors
It's a complete myth that grapes cannot be grown outside in th UK! Even more of a myth that eating grapes can't be grown outside!
Herewith we list an extensive range of grapes that be grown outside in the UK - whether you be hoping to eat them fresh from the vine, make wine or jams and jellies.
Outdoor grape vines will always be more successful in a warmer sunnier spot so Southern gardeners are particularly lucky. But if you are a more Northern gardener don't be put off as we have both white and red grapes that will happily grow and fruit outside. More...
A few decades ago, it was believed that only sour tasting grape cultivars were widely available to grow throughout our green and pleasant land. Thankfully, these days the selection is greater, with a number of sweet and juicy grapes now suited to both indoor and outdoor cultivation throughout the UK. So whether you're new to growing grape vines, or somewhat of an old pro, we're confident that you'll find something of interest within the selection of outdoor grape vines that we currently supply direct from our nursery in Kent.
Our grape vines can be grown in containers or in the open ground - trailed over an arch, pergola or on wire supports on a south or south-west facing wall - or in 'traditional' row method. However you choose to grow your outdoor grape vines, always opt for a sunny spot. All grape vines - whether grown in open ground or containers - will prefer well draining soil, with slightly alkaline soils provoking the best results... juicy grapes with fantastic flavour!
