Description

This mix of seed is especially blended for nectar production as well as pretty flowers. We must all encourage our diminishing domestic bee and bumble bee populations as they are so essential for pollination - as our little Milly can tell you all about Bees needing plants like these, as do butterflies, moths and other vital pollinating insects including harmless Hover Bees that are a natural predator to white fly and aphids - sow a packet in your garden or allotment and grow your own 'Nectar Bar' for them all.

Many of these flowers are also edible, so not only good for wildlife but for you too! They certainly brighten up a salad!

Each packet contains a mix of approximately 500 seeds, a blend of Borage, Candytuft, Clarkia, Godetia, Mixed Cornflowers, Nigella, Mignonette, Wallflowers, Goldenrod, Poppies, Somniferum, Solidago-Yellow Springs, White Clover and Cosmos.

Recommended by the RHS to be an excellent attractant and nectar source for bees and other beneficial insects.

  • Annual (although some varieties will self seed).
  • Flowers from approximately June to first frosts.
  • Growing heights vary between specie - between 8" (20 cm) and 3 feet (90 cm).
  • Sow March to early June.
  • To sow half fill a bucket with 'just moist' fine soil, sand or moist peat. Empty the whole packet into the bucket and thoroughly stir with either your hand or a trowel before filling the bucket with more soil / sand / peat and stirring again (many of the seed are almost dust like - hence this advice).
  • Broadcast by hand over a clear area of prepared soil and rake into the surface before watering thoroughly.
