Our Feedback
Once again I have been delighted with the Climbing French beans I ordered from you. Both Blue Lake and Fasold have cropped well with delicious tender beans. No need to try to germinate seeds when I can buy such excellent plants.

Description

This is a very much neglected and so worthwhile garden plant with greater hybrid vigour than any of the present day annual sweet peas.

These quickly reach a height of 6 - 8 feet (1.8 - 2.4 metres) and can be trained over an archway, against trellis, fence, sunny wall or grown over a floral cage as was so popular in Victorian England.

You can also grow in balcony pots or tubs to cascade like a waterfall of foliage to be smothered in bloom. A good rich loam suits these well. They flower in shades of deep rose pink, white and purple rose throughout the summer and are excellent as a cut flower. The only slight drawback with these beautiful flowers is they have very little scent - unlike annual Sweet Peas.

Recommended by the RHS to be an excellent attractant and nectar source for bees and other beneficial insects.

  • Perennial.
  • Flower June to September.
  • Grow to approximately 8 feet (2.4 metres) tall (require support).
  • Thrive in full sun and a rich soil.
  • Plant 18" (45 cm) apart.
  • Under no circumstances should the seed or seed pods (which look similar to edible garden peas) be eaten as they are poisonous.
