Many thanks for the plants I received in the post this morning. They were received in excellent condition and I now look forward to an improvement in the weather to help these plants grow. Once again, THANK YOU!!

Description

One of the most delicious beef style tomatoes there is and so popular with our customers.

The fruit is tinged with black or purple top and a reddish bottom and grows to a good size (approximately 4" / 10 cm diameter and 8oz) which is ribbed and heavy cropping. The flesh is 'meaty' and juicy yet firm.

Pre-dating the Russian Revolution of 1917 this heirloom variety originates from the Crimean Peninsula colloquially known as the Isle of Krim, located on the Black Sea coast.

We do recommend offering extra support as the fruits grow as they can become quite heavy for the branches. One small downside of this variety is that it is hard to grow a visually 'perfect' fruit as they often crack at the top or the base, but whatever you do don't let that put you off - this is a fantastic variety.

  • This is an indeterminate variety and best grown as a cordon (vine).
  • For best yields stop at 5th truss if growing under protection (3rd outside).
  • Whilst the best crops will be grown under protection, this variety can also be grown outside.
