A herb with a peppery spiciness and one of the oldest flavouring herbs!

Recognised to be an excellent attractant and nectar source for bees and other beneficial insects.

  • Hardy perennial.
  • Likes full sun.
  • Prefers well drained, rich, alkaline soil.
  • Reaches 10" (25 cm).
  • Very strong flavour.
  • Attractive white/pink flowers July to September. 
  • It is recommended that you cut them back in the Autumn (and replace every three years).
  • Culinary Uses.
  • Excellent for salt free diets.
  • Excellent for stuffing and stews.
  • Good accompaniment for beans (as counteracts the flatulence).
  • Adds that special tang to a variety of dishes.
  • Has been used commercially to flavour salami.
  • Can be added to sauces and vinegars (as the Romans did).
