just been watching Stephen's video on potting and preparation. In it he mentioned growing on the window sill and the need to watch out for your seedlings stretching. Since illness forced me to give up my allotment my 'garden' is an 8'x 30' paved back yard which runs east west so the side wall of my kitchen and garage is south facing. Along this wall I have a 6' x 6' x 2' leanto greenhouse. To try and overcome the problem of light from one direction I have covered some A4 card in tinfoil and fasten this round the plant pot with an elastic to reflect some light. The pots with domed covers are stood in plastic tubes, the packaging from Sony printer cartridges, which provide insulation . The heaters in my green house are two 100w clear bulbs inside two large grapefruit tins which provide enough warmth to the shelves at the rear of the greenhouse to bring on my tomato seedlings. A small parafin lamp is used as backup if needed. I raised over 400 bedding plants along with tomato plants cucumber,potatoes,raspberries,strawberries,gooseberries,apples,morello cherries and salad last year,so it is possible t o garden in the smallest area. Dear Team at Victoriana Nursery, My husband took delivery of a greengage tree last Friday (18/11/2011) which I ordered in August as a present for my husband's birthday the following month. The tree was exceptionally well-wrapped and protected and, on opening, we were delighted to find a healthy tree ready for planting. We planted the greengage tree yesterday and look forward to eating the fruits when they have grown! I have been using slug banish for two years now and am delighted with the results. I also have used the bio-sterilant mustard and it appears to have have made an impact on the onion white rot which has ruined my onjon and garlic for the past two years. At the present time the onions and shallots are not showing any sign of disease, and the shallots will soon be ready to harvest. I wonder if anyone else has reported this?

I have just tried growing your Victorian colossal pea, with fantastic results. We have a small garden and my wife found these thinking we would get more for the same space as the 'normal' peas. Problem is they are so heavily laden with pods they are tearing from the support frame and I have had to tie them up with soft string. A problem that is very welcome. I have just sown more in the greenhouse to plant out for a later crop. I have also tried your coloured carrots but too soon to try, but I will be ordering more seeds and greater variety in the future. Best wishes

On Saturday at the Garden Organic AGM Professor Ian Lang, talking about Food Security urged us all to grow more fruit. He pointed out that in Britain we produce a mere 5% of the fruit we eat, and we should consume 9 a day not just 5 a day fruit and veg. Last November I planted your Polka raspberries. They are now strong tall vigorous canes, tallest I have ever grown and producing throughout the summer. I'll need steps to pick the late ones!!
