Sometimes known as the Windflower or Poppy Flowered Anemone, all too few are grown of this once so popular and prolific cut flower that Mr Shirley Senior first had experience of growing in 1957 under cloches for early Winter and Spring cut flowers (that were very profitable as a commercial crop). Grown conventionally in the garden these flower from early May to June.

This selection is not just a standard mixture – oh no, Mr Shirley is too fussy for that and only supplies a blend of varieties to give a splendid colour mix that includes scarlet, violet blue, violet rose, white and rich blue – in both double and single flowers.

These can be grown all year round so give them a go – a few to try or a large quantity.

Hardy corm.
Excellent for Cut Flowers.

Flower at different times of year depending on planting time.
Flower at approximately 12” tall.
Plant the funny shaped corms 3" deep (there is no wrong or right way up) 8” apart in order for them to grow close and thick – suppressing weed growth.
Plant April - for June and July flowering.
Plant June - for September flowering.
Plant September in mild areas or under cloches – for late Winter and early Spring flowering.
Can also be grown in pots and containers.
Corms can be lifted and dried should you wish or left in the ground in which case they will flower annually in the Spring.

Supplied as ready to plant corms.

I have just planted a peach tree in the greenhouse. It was ordered in Spring but I was told it could not be delivered until November, which it was with no further need for follow up from me, beautifully wrapped and in lovely condition. Thank you very much and we are looking forward to seeing it flourish.
