Crumbly texture with a distinctive nutty flavour. An excellent dual purpose apple suitable for both eating and cooking. Season of use October - December. First introduced in 1740, Oxon, UK. Triploid variety - requires two other apples (different) to pollinate. Grown on MM106 root stock for an ultimate (un-pruned) height of 12-15 feet but can easily be kept at a height of 6-8 feet.
