Yellow to red fruit can be as big as a duck egg of oblong shape. Excellent for dessert, bottling and plum jam. The best known of English plums and a very reliable cropper. Season of use late August. First introduced 1840, Sussex, UK. Self fertile. Grown on St Julien A root stock for an ultimate (un-pruned) height of 12-15 feet but can easily be kept at a height of 6-8 feet.
