Protect your home & garden with barbed wire security ......without ugly barbed wire. Replace your old rotting Fence with this inexpensive, natural barrier of beauty which our original nursery introduced in 1964.

A select stock of Rosa rugosa - recommended by all garden journalists and magazines. Not To Be Confused With Common Briars. Cluster Colourama is the pedigree proven rose that grows thicker and better each year.

From early Spring the lush green foliage will encourage further growth from below ground level that, unlike ordinary roses, come true to the parent plant. Through the Summer it is covered in richly perfumed large pink, cerise, crimson & white flowers with sun gold centres. In Autumn lovely golden foliage is complimented by large red hips from which you can make rose hip syrup or jelly (recipes included in our cultural guidance) – or leave on the plants as they make an excellent Autumn bird food. Can attain its maximum height of 6-7 ft within 2 years.

Recommended by the RHS to be an excellent attractant and nectar source for bees and other beneficial insects.

  • Plant 12" (30 cm) apart.
  • Ultimate height 7 feet (2 metres). Can be trimmed to any height above 3 feet (90 cm).
  • Average annual growth rate 2 feet (60 cm).
  • Ultimate width 4 feet (120 cm). Can be trimmed to any width over 2 feet (60 cm).
  • Grows well in most soil types (including chalky and clay) except those prone to laying very wet.
  • Suitable for most aspects from full sun to partial shade. Does not perform well in dense shade.
  • Suitable for coastal areas.
  • Performs well in exposed / windy positions.
  • We are not aware that this plant is poisonous.
  • Plant Autumn / Winter / early Spring.
  • No supporting or attention apart from watering if it is dry is required in the first year from planting.
  • No bonemeal or any fertiliser is required when planting.
  • Suckers that arise from below the ground come true to type, do not remove!
  • No spraying for Black Spot or common rose diseases is required.
  • Once a year usually late Autumn it may be necessary to trim with shears (although we don't tend to every year here at the nursery). Wear gloves as the bristle thorns can be painful.

For the last 2 years I bought a product from you which I think was called Stop Grow for hedges and grass - it slowed them down. Do you still sell it? Thank you.

VICTORIANA'S RESPONSE
We regret we have now exhausted our stocks of Stop Gro G8 - and as this product is to have its usage revoked by the Pesticide Safety Directorate we are no longer able to obtain fresh stocks to continue supply as legally manufacture has to cease a year before a product is no longer allowed to be sold.
Sorry to disappoint.
Interestingly the same active ingredient is still approved for and will continue to be sold and used on food crops such as potatoes and onions to prevent premature sprouting.
