Miscanthus sinensis

Rich green Summer foliage is topped by beautiful arching sprays of silky russet pink flowers like a fine pampas grass - have no worry though, these won't seed themselves all over the place! Neither is it invasive like pampas or bamboo. In Winter the foliage takes on a russet gold colour. This really makes a splendid thick bushy screen.
Defies gale force winds and so makes an excellent windbreak. Needs no trimming or supporting. As a bonus you can 'harvest' a crop of thin canes from time to time. Recommended by the Horticultural Trade Press. Very rapid in growth, can reach full height of 7-8 ft within 18 months. Emerald Fantastica is our own selected species of Miscanthus grown on our nursery and therefore not available elsewhere.

Plant 2ft apart.
Ultimate height 8 feet. Can be trimmed to any height above 3 feet.
Ultimate width 3 feet. Can be trimmed to any width over 2ft.
Grows well in most soil types (including chalky and clay) except those prone to laying very wet.
Suitable for most aspects from full sun to partial shade. Does not perform well in dense shade.
Suitable for coastal areas.
Performs well in windy positions.
Plant Spring / Summer (generally available mid May – early September).
Due to the reduced growing season, Emerald Fantastica will not achieve its full height in Scotland and Northern England.

Supplied as compost block grown plants approximately 12" - 18" tall.
