Auriculas![]() Primula auriculaThis was a very popular plant in the last century and much prized for exhibiting as it is to this day, but, alas like so many good things it does not enjoy the popularity now as it deserves. It is a plant both for the garden and Winter greenhouse cultivation. It belongs to the Primula family, Primulaceae and bears Primrose like flowers of almost wax like appearance - as is the foliage. The flowers are of most distinctive character having an outer ring or zone of strongly contrasting colour. The outer zone can be almost black, purple, plum red, blue, or yellow - with a contrasting white or gold centre to each individual flower. We have also seen green edged flowers, and silver too. The colour combinations are fascinating. Flowering occurs March to May. Completely Winter hardy and as we have found totally rabbit proof!! Flowers March to May. Supplied as compost block grown plants (supplied in mixed colours only).
