Apple Mint PlantMentha suaveolens

Garden mint can be used for so much more than you might first think! Add it to peas, potatoes and drinks for extra flavour, or make the most flavoursome mint sauce you ever did taste to mention but a few!
- Said to be a symbol of hospitality.
- Perennial.
- Flowers July - September.
- Will become invasive (we would therefore recommend growing in a pot).
- Prefers a moist, rich, alkaline soil.
- Prefers a shady position (but will grow almost anywhere!)
- Strong aromatic, apply scent.
- You can grow in pots on the window sill in the kitchen for regular sprigs.
- Thrives in most soil types.
- Culinary Uses.
- Can infuse the leaves in oil, vinegar or water (for tea!)
- Mint sauce.
- With chocolate for a dessert.
- Can be used to make tea.
- Flowers are edible.
- Medicinal Uses.
- To relieve symptoms of Irritable Bowel Syndrome.
- Can be use to inhibit the growth of some types of bacteria.
- Can be used to make breathing easier by keeping the airways open.

- Helps to deter flies in the kitchen in Summer.
- Can be dried and scattered as a mouse deterrent.
