Supplied as a pot grown plant grown in a 7cm pot.

 

 

We are supplying these as pot grown plants which contain multiple stems in one pot (i.e. multiple plants) which can be teased apart and grown as single plant - and turned into trees should you wish to do so and train accordingly, however this is my no means necessary at all and they will grow happily together in a pot.

The Bay tree can have other uses than just in cooking, the leaf essence is also used in bath water to relieve aching muscles and vets have been known to use it for treated sore udders and pulled muscles! The oil can sometimes be used externally for treating sores. It is also popular for adding to Christmas wreaths with holly but a wreath of just Bay has become a mark of excellence for poets and athletes, to Romans it was a symbol of wisdom and glory!

  • Evergreen shrub. 
  • Will grow into a beautiful tree up to 65 feet (20 metres) if you leave it!
  • Lovely aromatic leaves when crushed (hence why they are good for marinades, soup or stews!)
  • In the ground they should become fully Winter hardy. 
  • Grown in pots they are frost sensitive need Winter protection.
  • Likes full sun.
  • Protect from the wind.
  • Flowers March - April.
  • Culinary Uses.
  • In soups, sauces, pates, stews, curry and rice pudding!
  • Sometimes used in liquers.
  • Dry leaves can be used to flavour vinegar.
  • In a flour bin it will deter weevils!
  • Medicinal Uses.
  • Can be used externally for treating sores and bruises.
  • The leaf essence, in a bath, relieves aching muscles and focus the mind.
  • Can be used to treat digestion problems, colic and flatulence.
  • Can help relieve cold and flu symptoms.
  • Berries can be used to help dandruff and rheumatism.
  • Vets use it for treating sore udders, sprains and pulled muscles.
  • Other Uses.
  • Training for topiary.
  • Can be crumbled into pot pourri.
