If you wish to avoid the expense of installing pond filtration we can confidently recommend this water plant collection. You can maintain a crystal clear pond that is healthy to your fish and that can eliminate the 'pea green soup' effect, without incurring any further expenditure ever again.Water clarity, or natures balance, is explained in more detail with the guidance advice that accompanies our balanced plant collection - it is not just the plants you pay for but the method of use.

This plant collection can absorb all harmful toxins safely, releasing beneficial oxygen and ensuring that your pond becomes crystal clear. The principal plant used for this purpose is Lagarosiphon major (previously known as Elgeria crispa). Used alone in accordance with our guidance notes it can do this job quickly and cheaply without the need to ever resort to harmful chemicals, that can and often do upset natures balance. We do not pretend Lagarosiphon major to be a new or unusual plant; it does occur in ponds often that are heavily 'charged' with algae in suspension and yet the solution to this problem often stares one in the face. In consequence it is as part of this particular package that our guidance advice is essential and bears relationship to the costing. As well as providing Lagarosiphon major we often introduce a similar and beautiful aquatic plant known as Coontail or to give it its correct botanical name Ceretophyllum demersum. Also we include a foundation stock of Water Cress. Water Cress ponds are always clear by their nature and now you will have the benefit of cultivated Water Cress that is edible and dare we say a recognised aphrodisiac!

This collection can be used with the Bilo Technica system.

Supplied as a collection of mixed aquatic plants.

Pond Water Volume Calculator
It is advisable that you calculate the gallonage of your pond before ordering. To arrive at the capacity for a rectangular or square pond you multiply the length in feet by the width in feet and the average depth in feet by 6.25. To arrive at the average depth, say your pond is 4 feet deep at one end and 2 feet at the other, for the purpose of the calculation, the average is arrived at by adding the two figures together and dividing by two e.g 2+4=6, divided by 2=average depth 3. To calculate the gallonage of a round pond, multiply the average depth in feet by the radius squared x 19.5. For 'metric people' a gallon of water = 4.55 litres.

just been watching Stephen's video on potting and preparation. In it he mentioned growing on the window sill and the need to watch out for your seedlings stretching. Since illness forced me to give up my allotment my 'garden' is an 8'x 30' paved back yard which runs east west so the side wall of my kitchen and garage is south facing. Along this wall I have a 6' x 6' x 2' leanto greenhouse. To try and overcome the problem of light from one direction I have covered some A4 card in tinfoil and fasten this round the plant pot with an elastic to reflect some light. The pots with domed covers are stood in plastic tubes, the packaging from Sony printer cartridges, which provide insulation . The heaters in my green house are two 100w clear bulbs inside two large grapefruit tins which provide enough warmth to the shelves at the rear of the greenhouse to bring on my tomato seedlings. A small parafin lamp is used as backup if needed. I raised over 400 bedding plants along with tomato plants cucumber, potatoes, raspberries, strawberries, gooseberries, apples, morello cherries and salad last year,so it is possible t o garden in the smallest area. Thanks again to all at Victoriana and thanks for the interesting and informative videos which are brilliant.
