This delicious and well known fruit is often overlooked by gardeners as its tropical originations make many think it will not 'do well'. In reality Pomegranates are 'tender' but will take mild frosts occasionally.

Whilst they are best grown in a large container (so they can be moved in for the Winter) they will similarly fare well in a warm sheltered spot in the garden such as next to a South or West facing wall.

Beautiful orange-red flowers mid Summer are followed by the familiar golden skinned fruits that hide the sweet juicy red crimson flesh.

Self fertile.

Pomegranates are recognised to be a 'super fruit' - protecting against heart disease and cancer.

Supplied as a pot grown plant approximately 4 - 5 feet tall (including pot).

How To Grow Pomegranates

Originating from Southwest Asia, Pomegranates thrive in hot arid conditions.
If growing outside ensure they are grown in a sheltered sunny spot in well drained soil.
To ensure fruiting a long, hot Summer is essential. Consider growing your Pomegranate in a container so it can be moved in for the Winter and kept in early Spring to lengthen the warm growing season.

Top Tips
Ideally Pomegranates are best kept at a minimum temperature of 5°C (40°F). If growing out side and frost is forecast to be hard protect with fleece or similar.
Pruning should be undertaken in the Winter or Spring.
Avoid protected growing areas that are excessively humid.
