Aubergine Seed 'Black Beauty'

Solanum melongena 'Black Beauty'

The distinctive purple black fruits of this variety have an excellent texture - and don't seem to absorb oil when being cooked as easily as other varieties. Popular for Mediterranean and Asian cooking these are gorgeous simply sliced, dipped in egg, and then breadcrumbs before shallow frying.

Eggplants, as they are commonly known, will produce the heaviest crop if grown under protection - but a sunny spot outside, sheltered from cold winds, will similarly produce a very worthwhile crop.

Supplied as a packet of approximately 20 seeds.

How To Sow & Grow Aubergine Black Beauty

Sow under protection two seeds per small pot March - April.
Transplant and grow on in larger pots when large enough to handle.
For greenhouse or polytunnel growing plant out into either larger pots, growbags or the ground when more established and provide a sturdy support.
For outdoor growing transplant outside after the risk of frost has passed into a sunny sheltered spot; plant out 24" apart in rows 24" apart and provide a sturdy support.

Average yield is around 4-5lb's per plant
