Something we have discovered from Italy which is effectively a cut and come again lettuce. The elongated leaves are deeply lobed and tender with very crunchy ribs. Very fast re-growing.

Very well worth growing and can crop all Summer, Autumn and early Winter. After cutting you will obtain further shoots in the same way that Spinach re-grows. It also has the added benefit of standing well without readily bolting in a hot Summer.

• Sow late March onwards under protection either in seed trays - or drills ½" (1 cm) deep in rows 8" apart.
• When large enough to handle transplant outside, planting 8" - 10" (20 - 25 cm) apart in rows 18" (45 cm) apart.
• Alternatively direct sow mid April onwards into ½" deep drills 18" (45 cm) apart. and thin to one plant per 8" - 10" (20 - 25 cm) apart when large enough to handle (and of course eat the thinnings.

• Top Tips
• Cut regularly to encourage a constant supply of juvenile foliage - which is far sweeter than the larger leaves. As a guide the crop should be no taller than 12" (30 cm) tall.
