Cauliflower Seed 'Snowball'Brassica oleracea (Botrytis Group) 'Snowball'
1 or more £1.45 each This Product is Available Now. Supplied as a packet of approximately 60 seeds. Though strictly speaking described as an early cauliflower, Snowball is in fact far more versatile than that and can be used for Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter production.
First bred in America in the 1890's there probably still isn't a better cauliflower to grow in the garden.
The compact plants produce a good crop of 5" - 6" (13 - 15 cm) pure white cauliflower heads that are tightly packed to the point of being solid and of superb quality - they freeze well too!
Recommended by the RHS to be an excellent attractant and nectar source for bees and other beneficial insects if allowed to 'go over' and flower (so if you have room leave any plants in that have gone too far rather than pulling them out straight away).

- Top Tips
- Bend leaves over the developing head to protect from Sun during the Summer and frost in the Winter.
- Do not overfeed winter crops as this makes them more susceptible to frost damage.
- Protect from Pigeons - Pigeons love Brassicas (so do Partridges).
- Take precautions against the dreaded Cabbage White Butterfly - inspect your crop regularly, spray with our BioFriend Plant Defence regularly or use a physical barrier such as insect netting.

I find your website useful and easy to us. I also enjoy your changing ads. in papers and mags. On Saturday at the Garden Organic AGM Professor Ian Lang, talking about Food Security urged us all to grow more fruit. He pointed out that in Britain we produce a mere 5% of the fruit we eat, and we should consume 9 a day not just 5 a day fruit and veg.
Last November I planted your Polka raspberries. They are now strong tall vigorous canes, tallest I have ever grown and producing throughout the summer. I'll need steps to pick the late ones!!
My first purchase from you was before the web, shrub roses for my allotment for the vit. C. Enjoyed your family history.
