Supplied as a packet of approximately 90 seeds.

Sometime known as flowering cabbage because of the attractive edible purple flower stalks it produces. The green fleshy leaves can be eaten young as baby leaves, or allowed to mature when they can then be used in stir fry's - as can the purple flower stalks.

Recommended by the RHS to be an excellent attractant and nectar source for bees and other beneficial insects if allowed to 'go over' and flower (so if you have room leave any plants in that have gone too far rather than pulling them out straight away).

Sow thinly April - September in drills ¾" (2 cm) deep in rows 12" (30 cm) apart - or thinly in containers.
For use as a cut and come again leaf crop thin to 4" (10 cm) apart.
For eating 'whole' thin to 12" (30 cm) - but remember to eat the thinnings!
For over Winter crops sow under protection, in the same manner, from August - mid October.
