At first glance this old variety of tomato can easily be mistaken for a Sweet Pepper. When cut open the confusion may continue as inside you will find very little flesh! The bright golden yellow fruits average around 3" (7.5 cm) in diameter and have a 'ridged' shape similar to a Sweet Pepper. The walls of the fruits are extremely thick and fleshy, which makes up for the void within. Sliced through horizontally these make perfect tomato rings that are wonderful deep fried in tempura batter. But probably the best way to eat these is to stuff them! Non-cooked the thick walls will give a satisfying 'crunchy outer', cooked they make 'collapse' a rare occurrence.
