How To Grow Chicory 'Brussels Witloof'

Sow thinly in rows 12" apart.
Sow in drills ½" deep.
Thin to one plant per 10" when large enough to handle.
In late Autumn cut off foliage. Lift roots and pot into grit or sharp sand. Keep moist and place in a warm pitch dark situation. Fine quality blanched spears appear. Take precautions against slugs!
