The Beaujolais grape, this variety is well known for producing fruit filled young red wines. Strangely it is a variety that has not ventured commercially out of France extensively.

The dark purple-black fruits produce a delicate red juice that can be sweetened for drinking, or fermented to make light red table wines with that characteristic fruit packed flavour.

Whilst late to ripen, this variety should perform successfully outside in Southern parts of the UK. For more Northern gardeners (or to guarantee success every year) growing under protection is recommended.

  • Originally from France.
  • Late-Season fruit ripening (probably too late for all but the South / South West of the UK outside).
  • Winter wood ripening is good - so can be grown both outdoors or under protection (greenhouse, polytunnel or conservatory) - though to guarantee fruit ripening we would suggest protected growing.
  • Can be trained using either the cane replacement method or spur pruning.
  • Self fertile.
  • Fruit contains seeds.

Supplied as a potted grafted vine approximately 12" - 18" (30 - 45 cm) tall including pot.

Only the second time I have used your company but when I wanted to increase my small orchard by just one tree I thought of you immediately. I was not disappointed. Immediate response to my question followed by very fast delivery of a healthy tree. I will certainly recommend you to my neighbours when they want something just that little bit better for the garden.
