Description

One of the earliest eating apples there is, with fruits often being ready for harvest as early as July.

A really crisp, juicy well-flavoured apple - and very welcome for summer fruit salads with a beautiful red skin streaked with yellow.

Stunning white clusters of flowers in Spring.

Developed in Idaho, America in 1938 by the Stark brothers of Missouri and introduced to the UK in 1944

  • Season of use July-August.
  • Self-fertile - but pollination by another apple will maximise yield.
  • Grown on M26 rootstock for an ultimate (unpruned) height of 8-12ft (2.4-3.65m) but can easily be kept at a height of 6-8ft (1.8-2.4m).

Recommended by the RHS to be an excellent attractant and nectar source for bees and other beneficial insects.

Recommended by the RHS to assist in encouraging bats into the garden as the flowers are likely to attract moths and other night-flying insects which bats love to eat!
