I spent many years in the 1980's growing vines in a garden in Manchester and I learned a lot. I have to say that your information on this site is the best I have ever seen. It is extraordinarily detailed and comprehensive

Asian Pear Trees

Asian pear trees are a relative newcomer to the UK, yet extremely popular on the Continent – and deservedly so!

Very reliable and disease-resistant, Asian pear trees produce large or medium-sized round fruits (more round than an apple, for instance) which have a juicy pear flavour. We'd actually say they are just a little bit easier and more reliable than conventional pears – and cropping can be unbelievably heavy.
