Description

An heirloom variety of white aubergine that is ideal for growing in the English weather (with shorter Summers than our Southern European friends) as it is early to mature; it is thought to orginate from France.

These lovely creamy white aubergines, both skin and flesh, have a mild flavour and firm texture reaching approximately 7" (18 cm) long in a teardrop shape with a thin skin. Despite the fact that this variety will produce lots of fruits quite quickly it is recommended to grow them in a greenhouse or poly tunnel as they don't like the cold (although this variety is more tolerant than some)!

Aubergines orginated from China and are a member of the Nightshade family and in history were thought to dangerous to eat, causing madness or even death - thankfully this is not the case!

  • Sow under protection two seeds per small pot March-April.
  • Germinate at a temperature of 21-27°C (70-80°F).
  • Transplant and grow on in larger pots when large enough to handle.
  • Ready to harvest in approximately 80 days.
  • For greenhouse or polytunnel growing plant out into larger pots, growbags or the ground when more established and provide a sturdy support.
  • For outdoor growing transplant into a sunny sheltered spotafter the risk of frost has passed; plant out 36" (90 cm) apart in rows 36" (90 cm) apart and provide a sturdy support.
