Description

A lovely hedging plant which is native to the UK. It has beautiful green foliage during the Spring and Summer with the most stunning coppery colour during the Autumn and Winter.

Beech can make a good wind break as well as a formal hedge (with pruning); the copper coloured leaves tend to hang on over the Winter months, before fresh green foliage arrives in the Spring. It is quite common to plant a double row of beech to give good coverage and appearance and can offer great protection for livestock.

  • Semi-evergreen.
  • Lightly prune, if required in August.
  • Average growth per year 1 - 2 feet (30 - 60 cm).
  • Likes a sunny position or partial sun.
  • Prefers a well drained location.
  • It is not recommended to plant in areas that suffer from severe Winter frosts.
  • Plant 9 - 24" (23 - 60 cm) apart.
