Description

This dwarf broad bean is great for the smaller garden or veggie patch. It will produce deliciously tender white seeded beans with a good yield and flavour. Ideal for pot growing

These plants can be over-wintered should you wish as they are very hardy.

Recommended by the RHS to be an excellent attractant and nectar source for bees and other beneficial insects.

  • Grow to around 12" (30 cm) tall.
  • Does not needing supporting.
  • Set out 9" (23 cm) apart in interspaced double rows 12" (30 cm) apart.
  • Ensure you keep them watered, particularly if the weather is dry.

Top Tips

  • If you have Pheasants in your area beware! They love young broad bean plants and will dig them up so please take precautions.
  • Young broad bean tops make an excellent spinach substitute.
  • To help the beans swell, ensure you water well.
  • To reduce blackfly and improve pod development pinch off the top 1" of the stems when the first beans appear
  • The beans are best picked when they are young and tender.
  • Freeze your excess beans.
  • When you have finished harvesting dig the plants into the ground to provide green manure and valuable nitrogen to the soil.
