Description

For garden planting in the open border, bog garden or as a pond marginal plant.

Improving year on year this remarkable perennial produces very striking crimson red foliage - a feature in itself. But from July - September the crowning beauty are the spikes of crimson red flowers standing 2 - 3 feet (60 - 90 cm) tall. True Victorian splendour!

What's more, it is a long lasting excellent cut flower and looks most impressive in a crystal vase.

Perfect for the open border, either planted as single specimens or on mass. And because they do well in wetter soils they are ideal for pond side or bog garden planting.

  • Flower July to September.
  • Grow to approximately 2 - 3 feet (60 - 90) tall.
  • Thrive in a sunny position and a rich moist soil to the point of being boggy.
  • For mass planting, plant 18" (45 cm) apart.
