Our Feedback
My Asian Pear Trees arrived today, thank you. Very well wrapped and in good order. One is for a friend, and one for myself. Fortunately I had left the outside door open, and shut the inner door, as I must have been in the garden when the parcel was delivered, or they might have taken my trees away!

Description

Also known as the Finger Lime or Caviar Lime, this is the only citrus species native to Australasia, and is drought-tolerant. Its small leaves, bushy habit and pretty white and pink flowers make it a decorative addition to the patio (though mind the spines).

The individual fruits are 3-4" (8 cm) long and look just like stubby fingers. When the pod is cut crossways (never lengthways), out roll tiny juicy 'pearls' (no need to squeeze) that look just like caviar and have been described as tasting of lime with a hint of grapefruit.

  • Grows to 3-5 feet (1 - 1.5 metre) high.
  • Self-fertile.
  • Likes sun or partial shade.
  • Can be grown in greenhouse or on patio.
  • Requires winter frost protection or move indoors.
  • Flowers / fruits between July - October.
  • Juicy 'pearls' can be used in desserts and salads.
  • Whole fruit can be used in pickling and for marmalade.
  • Use dried ground peel as a flavouring.
