Description

A later-to-mature fruit which can help to extend the cropping season of chillies. It is not unusual, under protection, to have good-quality fruit in November and late December - perfect for those cold nights!

The hottest of the three most popular chilli varieties used in Mexico (Ancho, Jalapeño and Serrano) this is a fantastic variety for all sorts of culinary exploits!

With thick and crunchy flesh these are great for slicing and dicing. That thick flesh also helps add 'bulk' if used in sauces. Great for using either green or when fully ripened to red.

The immature fruits vary in colour from pale to dark green, but mature to a deep red - varying from 3"-5" (7.5-13 cm) in length and 2" (5 cm) wide. As a plant they grow to around 3 feet (90 cm) tall with a similar spread.

  • Origin: Mexico
  • Heat: Medium Hot - approximately 5,000 -15,000 SHUs
