Our Feedback
Just a quick note to say how easy, informative and in general, a pleasure, your website was to use this morning. Also, it is so refreshing to read your comments about "Organic" produce. I was amazed to read something so sensible, in all honesty. Working in the farming industry, food labelling is one of my bugbears and your comments about so called Organic food coming to the UK from abroad hit the nail on the head!

Fig Tree 'Violette De Solliès'

Awaiting Image

Ficus carica 'Violette De Solliès'

  • Very large fruits.
  • Vigorous and very hardy.
  • Self fertile.

Supplied as a pot grown tree approximately 12" (30 cm) tall including pot.

Available from approximately early December 2018

GBP1 or more £16.99 each
Qty:

This is possibly the sweetest variety there is!

Cropping heavily, it produces large fruits that are almost black in colour when fully ripe. Cut them open and you will smell 'the flavour' immediately - but when you bite into the flesh you will discover that truly sublime sweetness. Whilst you could dry these, in our opinion that would be waste - this really is a pick and eat straight from the tree variety.

One interesting feature of this attractive shrubby tree is that the large deeply lobed leaves differ in appearance from most other varieties by having a fine serration to their edge making them all the more attractive.

  • Harvest August - October.
  • Self Fertile.
  • Best grown in a sunny sheltered position - a South West facing wall or fence would be ideal.
  • Restriction of the roots will prevent the tree growing too large and keep it fruitful; so consider either growing in a large container or by making a planting pit - lining the sides of a 3 x 3 x 3 feet (90 x 90 x 90 cm) hole with paving slabs and the base with brick rubble before refilling with soil - and planting into that.
Available from approximately early December 2018
