On Saturday at the Garden Organic AGM Professor Ian Lang, talking about Food Security urged us all to grow more fruit. He pointed out that in Britain we produce a mere 5% of the fruit we eat, and we should consume 9 a day not just 5 a day fruit and veg.
Last November I planted your Polka raspberries. They are now strong tall vigorous canes, tallest I have ever grown and producing throughout the summer. I'll need steps to pick the late ones!!

Fuchsia 'Prodigy' is certainly that, thanks to its very free flowering habit. And who wouldn't want masses of medium-sized semi-double flowers, the tube and sepals crimson in colour, contrasting with the bluish purple of the corolla? This fuchsia has an upright, bushy habit and will reach a height of 36" (90 cm).
- Plant out from late May all through the summer.
- Hardy once established.
- Suitable for potting on or, dependent on time of year, planting straight into the garden.
- Late autumn garden planting should be avoided as the plants will not have time to establish before the winter.
- If grown in containers and left outside all winter they may not prove fully hardy as container growing does not afford the same level of root protection as growing in the ground.
Please Note: Given the current time of year and weather our fuchsia plants need to be overwintered and protected from frost until late Spring (or when the night time temperatures have warmed up).
