Brilliant service fabulous plants, even though the delivery man couldnt deliver on the first day as I was at work the plants arrived on the second day and in far better condition than I have received things from the bigger companies and the plants you can see without having a magnifiying glass to look at them well done to everyone at Victoriana its a joy to place an order and when it arrives its better than Christmas.

Arguably this is the classic wine grape of Germany, producing wines of similar quality to some of the noble grapes of France (where it is also grown).

The fruits are late in ripening, making this variety suitable only for growing under protection; this is especially important if you want to allow 'noble rot' (evaporation of some of the moisture of the grapes caused by the fungal infection Botrytis cinerea) to take hold of the golden-yellow fruits and thus have a go at making your own dessert wines.

Being high in sugar, this is also an attractive and sweet eating variety.

  • Originally from Germany.
  • Late-season fruit ripening (probably too late for most of the UK outside).
  • Winter wood ripening is good - so can be grown both outdoors or under protection (greenhouse, polytunnel or conservatory) - though to ensure fruit ripening we recommend protected growing.
  • Can be trained using either the cane replacement method or spur pruning.
  • Self fertile.
  • Fruit contains seeds.
