Supplied as a containerised vine grafted on S04 rootstock approximately 2 feet (60 cm) tall including pot.
Available from APPROXIMATELY early JuneOriginating from France, this grape variety is probably not far behind Chardonnay in where it is now cultivated around the world for wine production. At 'home' in France it makes such fine wines as Sancerre and Pouilly-Fumé, or is blended with Sémillon to make white Bordeaux - from the bone-dry Graves to luscious Sauternes. In the 'New World' it is a favourite in varietal wines with a crisp citrus freshness.
Here in the UK it is also finding favour as a wine grape; Mark Diacono of River Cottage / Otter Farm fame has a planting of 400 Sauvignon vines and describes them as being, "slower than the other varieties but doing ok".
