Bought a few fruit trees from you last year, all going strong and produced well. Have just received two honeyberry plants, both healthy and good size, looking forward to tasting. Thanks for the natural packing, its lovely to unpack to find the plant, like Christmas again!!

Description

A delightful black grape primarily grown for wine-making. Generally speaking, the flavour is of blackberries and dark chocolate, but peppery or liquorice flavours may also come through (however this does change depending on the environment in which the grape vine grows). Syrah has high tannins and acidity.

Also known as Shiraz (particularly in Australia), this variety is thought to be a descendant of Dureza and Mondeuse Blanche vines. It originates from the Northern Rhône region of France but is now grown in many countries. Syrah is a variety that will change flavour depending on its growing conditions; usually, the wine made from the grapes grown in a hotter climate (such as Australia) is more full-bodied. However the grapes usually produce wine with good aging ability.

  • Loves a sunny, warm location.
  • Free-draining soil.
  • Protected growing (greenhouse or polytunnel) recommended.
  • Thick-skinned grapes.
  • Self fertile.
  • Fruits contain seeds.
