Our Feedback
I recently ordered 3x3 different colours of hyssop. One lot died and so I had to re-order. Victoriana nursery were great & very quickly they sent some more. All are now doing well! Under the pressure of delivering all their lovely plants online, during covid19, they have been marvellous and I will certainly use them again!

Brassica oleracea var. alboglabra

Pollinator Friendly

Description

Popular in Chinese and Asian cuisines this relation of broccoli is perfect for stir fries. The thickness of the leaves and stems really adds texture and bulk to dishes - whilst the dark-blue green of leaf and stem adds colour interest.

If allowed to mature to flowering stage small white broccoli-like florets are produced that add further interest and a satisfying crunch.

Can also be eaten as a baby leaf.

Recommended by the RHS to be an excellent attractant and nectar source for bees and other beneficial insects if allowed to 'go over' and flower (so if you have room leave any plants in that have gone too far rather than pulling them out straight away).

  • Sow thinly April-September in drills ¾" (2 cm) deep in rows 12" (30 cm) apart, or thinly in containers.
  • For use as a cut-and-come-again leaf crop thin to 4" (10 cm) apart.
  • For eating 'whole' thin to 12" (30 cm) - but remember to eat the thinnings!
  • For overwintering crops sow under protection, in the same manner, from August-mid October.
