Our Feedback
I am a totally satisfied customer. Who was amazed by the carefully packed tree I'd ordered only days before. Which arrived in perfect condition. I throughly approve of the paperless policy and the lack of acres of plastic in the packaging. I will now be a return customer and recommend to all my friends

Also known as True Lavender or English Lavender, Lavandula angustifolia (formerly known as officinalis, a reflection of its medicinal properties) and is a native to the Mediterranean. Angustifolia (from it's Botanical name) means 'narrow-leaved', reminding us that these plants will happily thrive in hot, dry conditions, all the better to encourage the development of the essential oils that give the leaves and flowers their distinctive, much-loved fragrance. The Roman name for lavender, lavandarius, comes from the Latin 'lavare' (to wash).

Such a distinct fragrance and now used in so many products that you buy for example washing powder, soap, perfume and shampoo.

During Roman times, lavender flowers were sold for 100 denarii per pound, which was about the same as a month's wages for a farm laborer, or fifty haircuts from the local barber.

With its compact habit, silvery grey leaves and dusky dark blue/purple flowers Lavandula angustifolia 'Vera' is ideal for edging borders or as a low hedge. It can be trimmed to shape or left to form soft mounds.

Recommended by the RHS to be an excellent attractant and nectar source for bees and other beneficial insects.
