Available from APPROXIMATELY late April / early MayPeppermint has dark green distinctively toothed oval leaves on short red / purple stalks producing purple flowers with a strong, distinctive peppermint scent and flavour.
Peppermint is the original source of peppermint oil.
It thought to have originated in England around 1753. It came into use for medicine in Western Europe in the 18th century, and was grown commercially in Mitcham, Surrey and is thought to be a hybrid of Watermint and Spearmint.
Recognised to be an excellent attractant and nectar source for bees and other beneficial insects.
