Our Feedback
Thank you all very much for the two trees that arrived yesterday. As you may remember they were for my wife's birthday and she was absolutely delighted. We have followed the instructions and they are now looking very nice in our small but crammed garden. They were well packed and even as she unwrapped them she had no idea what they were, a perfect surprise. So impressed was she with the service, I think other orders may follow.

Said to be sweeter than Winter Savory, Summer Savory is just as versatile - if not more so! With an aromatic, almost peppery, flavour - the chopped raw leaves add a real zing to salads.

When added to stews and meat dishes not only does it add its classic peppery taste but also makes food easier digest - particulalry useful for bean dishes as it will reduce flatulence!

  • Likes full sun.
  • Prefers well drained, rich, alkaline soil.
  • Reaches 10" (25 cm) tall.
  • More mild flavour than its Winter Cousin.
  • Attractive white/pink flowers July to September.
  • Culinary Uses
  • Good for salt free diets.
  • Can be used for stuffing and stews.
  • Good accompaniment for beans (as counteracts the flatulence).
  • Adds that special tang to a variety of dishes.
  • Has been used commercially to flavour salami.
  • Can be added to sauces and vinegars (as the Romans did).
  • Medicinal Uses
  • Antiseptic properties.
  • Aids digestion and eases flatulence.
  • Can help diarrhoea.
  • Can be used as a tonic and is particularly good after a fever.
  • Can stimulate appetite.
  • Good for pain relief after insect bites or stings.
