Whilst The Sun Shines...

Finally, it would appear we are going to get a welcome settled spell in the weather - and about time too! Nature always has a way of catching up - but with 'all the weather' since late October we had started to lose faith!

So here at the nursery it's make hay whilst the sun shines - or more precisely catch up on all those jobs that have been backing up for months! We've got areas of garden to dig over, pruning to get done - as well as the more exciting projects (as mentioned in the video above) of plotting out our mini vineyard and orchard - and even having a re-design at the front of the nursery. A busy time for us - lets hope the weather holds!

At home and on the allotment its a time to get going too. With two or three months to run its easy to think there's still plenty of time for planting bare root fruit and hedging - but look at it from the other way and you'll realise that we've already had three months of this season - so time ticks away without you realising - and before you know it the chance will be gone. So time to get out there and plan and plant your fruit areas! To many 'grow your owners' fruit is still regarded as the more expensive cousin - but remember that with a single purchase and planting literally lasting a lifetime fruit is the investment purchase that keeps on giving.

On the vegetable side, we're busy with our sowings - first batches of Brassicas, all the Chillies and now the first cycle of Tomatoes are underway. Its too early to be sowing anything outside just yet - but now really is the time to get other bits and pieces underway at home (just make sure you give your seedlings as much light as you can to keep them compact and healthy).

So February really is a busy busy month for us all - so we better stop writing this and go and get on! But on a final point, if you're a 'Twitter person', do come and find us @Victoriana_NG as we Tweet regularly about what we're doing and what's going on at the nursery!
