Dating from 1892, Royal Sovereign was probably the pinnacle of Thomas Laxton's strawberry-breeding career. (Thomas Laxton can be considered the 'father' of the modern strawberry.) The fact that it is still sought after is a testament to its versatility.

Although the plants are not as large as modern varieties and the yield a little smaller its superb flavour makes up for this. This truly is a fantastic strawberry with a wonderful traditional flavour.

Recommended by the RHS to be an excellent attractant and nectar source for bees and other beneficial insects.

  • Self-fertile.
  • Ideal for growing either in pots or the open ground.
