Our Feedback
The above order has just arrived. All the plants are in very good condition-Thank you. I have, over the years, become used to plants arriving badly damaged from other suppliers, generally because they were not packed properly-these were packed very well. Again thank you.

Brian Stops For A CupperThe Nursery

With just under sixty years experience of supplying seeds and plants to the Nation's gardeners it really is true to say we are passionate about gardens and gardening! Unlike some web-based mail order 'nurseries' and 'seed merchants' we actually grow most of what we sell - rather than simply acting as a distribution house for bought in goods - and what's more we welcome visitors. Our visiting us page will help you with directions and opening times.

Visitors to our nursery and plant centre (we are proudly not a garden centre) will find an even wider range of plants than we offer by mail order including ornamental trees, shrubs and herbaceous plants. Of course, all the items we sell by mail order are also available for collection.

In the summer months our Display Vegetable Garden, tended by Mark & Dan under the careful guidance of Stephen Shirley can prove of interest and inspiration to both novice and accomplished gardener alike. Each year we grow the bulk of our vegetable range, both for seed production and to feed us all. And of course we trial new varieties with a view to introducing to our range - if we all agree they're good enough! As we genuinely know the growing habits and flavours of what we sell we are confident we can best advise our customers.

We also have a sizable tunnel in which we grow all our 'greenhouse' edibles - tomatoes, chillies, cucumbers, melons and all sorts - and this is of course the focus point for our Tomato Days and our now legendery Chilli Festival! Chillies are a real passion of Stephen's - and what started as a hobby has turned into an obsession - and now needs the help of Steven (another) to oversee the growing of the hundreds of varieties of Chillies, Tomatoes and Sweet Peppers

Closer to the front of the nursery is the flower garden, where we grow flowers for cutting and trial varieties to add to our flower seed list.

Each year we try and do a little more to give further interest for our visitors - and now we have a large soft fruit cage, a mini orchard and even a vineyard in its infancy.
