Prunus x persicoides 'Robijn'


After a stunning display of delicate pinky-white flowers in the Spring a heavy crop of soft shelled nuts with a gorgeously sweet flavour are produced - ready for harvesting late August.

Very good resistance to peach leaf curl making it all but immune.

Will start fruiting approximately two - three years after planting.

Self fertile.

Grown on St Julien A root stock for an ultimate height of 12 - 15 feet (3.65 - 4.6 metres) but can easily be kept at a height of 6-8 feet (1.8 - 2.4 metres).

Supplied as a bare root tree pruned to approximately 4 - 5 feet (1.2 - 1.5 metres) tall including roots.

Top Tips For Growing Almond 'Robijn'

  • Almonds prefer a full sun position but will tolerate shade.
  • Being closely related to Peaches and Nectarines (you can actually eat the outer flesh in exactly the same way), Almonds flower on second year wood - so avoid over zealous pruning.
  • Pruning is best undertaken after the tree has flowered and set fruit.
