A New Year Of Challenges Ahead
Here we go again - the start of a New Year! What an uncertain future it holds for us all right now.
For us, like many businesses, we're faced with increases in costs from every direction - a fivefold increase in electricity (we've calculated our borehole and irrigation pumps will cost circa £40 a day to run this Summer), increases in postage and courier, up to 40% increases on packaging - and so it goes on.
And that is why 2023 is going to be possibly the most important 'Grow Your Own' year since the years of wartime rationing. From a relatively small outlay on seeds and veg plants and a little physical effort it really is possible to grow all your own veg all year round; yes, some months will be more plentiful and diverse than others but that just adds to the fun. But money saving is not the only reason for growing your own - the benefits to both physical and mental health are immense!
Due to the economics of heating and staffing we have decided to keep the nursery closed to calling customers for the foreseeable future. We do, of course, continue to offer a full mail order service - and 'contactless' collections can be arranged (via our online Checkout) for more local customers.
