RHS Award of Garden Merit

Description

One of our favourite perennial plants!

Completely hardy, yet in winter they appear to die when in fact they are simply asleep. From February, no matter how cold the weather, fresh green shoots appear and form mounds of bright green leaves. Then from these mounds erect stems rise up and are topped with almost round balls of tiny bell shaped flowers - thus giving the appearance of a drumstick. Flower colour varies from pure white to deep purple and everything in between such as pinks and lavenders.

  • Thrive in a moist soil - so suitable for pond-side planting.
  • Grow to approximately 4" (10 cm) tall. Flower spikes rise to approximately 2 feet (60 cm) tall.
  • Happy in full sun or partial shade.
  • Plant 12" (30 cm) apart.
