Description
Very sweet and juicy apples suitable for eating and cooking (one of our favourites). A large fruit with an attractive flushed colour. Does not collapse when cooked.
- Season of use September-October.
- First introduced 1893, Scotland.
- Self-fertile - but pollination by another apple will maximise yield.
- Grown on M26 rootstock for an ultimate (unpruned) height of 8-12ft (2.4-3.65m) but can easily be kept at a height of 6-8ft (1.8-2.4m). This variety does tend to be on the smaller size with well-formed branches.
Recommended by the RHS to be an excellent attractant and nectar source for bees and other beneficial insects.
Recommended by the RHS to assist in encouraging bats into the garden as the flowers are likely to attract moths and other night-flying insects which bats love to eat!
